Welcome to the colloquium website: "Taking Stock: When Literature Produces Knowledge"

The International Colloquium of 20th and 21st Centuries French and Francophone Studies is the most important conference for contemporary studies dedicated to this field in North America. It has taken place every year since 1984. Recent FSS conferences have been held in Atlanta (2013), and New York (2014).  This year it will be hosted, for the second time, by the Department of French Studies and the Program in Comparative Literature at Louisiana State University, from February 26 to February 28, 2015.  Usually more than 300 presenters participate. The languages of the Colloquium are English and French.

Exhibit Opening, Guest Speaker André Derval on Archives
Hill Memorial Library
LSU Campus

On Wednesday, Feburary 25 at 5:30 pm, join us for the official opening of our current exhibition, Special Collections on Parade, a glimpse at some selections from all aspects of the collections held at Hill Memorial Library.

The opening will feature a speaker from another archives, Institut Mémoires de l’Édition contemporaine (IMEC) in France, which holds the records of several large publishing houses in France.  Dr. André Derval will talk about the operations and endeavors of this important repository documenting the contemporary book trade.  This is a unique opportunity to learn more about what archivists and special collections librarians do, and how archives work.

Dr. Derval’s visit is in conjunction with the International Colloquium in 20th and 21st century French and Francophone Studies held in Baton Rouge February 26-28, 2015 and funded by the Phyllis M. Taylor Professorship in French Studies.

Audio-Visual Equipment

Dear Participants in the International Colloquium in 20th 21st Century French & Francophone Studies,

We are supplying the following audio-visual equipment.  Each room will be equipped with a projector and a screen.  One of the presenters in each panel should provide a laptop computer and the members of the panel should load their presentations before the beginning of the session. The laptops used for input to projectors must have a VGA OUT port (some newer laptops do not have VGA). MAC users should have the display to VGA ADAPTER for their specific MAC.  We will have the VGA cords and in addition we will have three MAC adapters for those who forget to bring the proper equipment. MAC users who save the presentations to a flash drive should make sure their data is saved for PC use.

Each panel chair might want to contact the participants on their panel to verify who will volunteer to provide the laptops.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
